A group representing Irish food and drink companies has called for a series of exemptions from EU state aid rules for the sector to help it to cope with Brexit.

Food Drink Ireland (FDI) called on the Government and the European Commission to put a “comprehensive package” in place to help viable businesses to deal with the fall-out from Brexit and what it called the “massive disruption” to Irish exports.

The call came ahead of a conference taking place at Croke Park in Dublin today, which is discussing the findings ofa report by Copenhagen Economics on the economic impact of Brexit. The report, commissioned by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, was published last week.
