Flurry of submissions delays National Planning Framework

Business leaders in the mid-west say draft report backs further growth in 'overheating' Dublin region

The finalNational Planning Framework, which was due to be delivered before Christmas, will now not be finalised until this month following a large volume of submissions.

In December, housing minister Eoghan Murphy had dismissed rumours that the government was facing a delay in finalising the plan. But his department has now told The Sunday Business Post that it will not be ready until early this year.

There were over 1,000 submissions concerningthe draft plan, which was produced in September, with a large volume of submissions in particular received from the mid-west. There were also submissions about a perceived bias towards the growth of Dublin in the draft plan.
