First increase in newspaper advertising since 2007
Last year marked the first increase in direct advertising in National Newspapers of Ireland (NNI) brands since 2007.
A total of €156 million was spent on print and digital advertising in NNI publications last year, according to figures released by the NNI.
About €65 million was invested by direct advertisers, representing an increase in spend of over 4 per cent.
Advertising agencies accounted for €91 million of the spend. This was a fall of 3.7 per cent on 2013 figures.
