Factories feel Brexit impact despite growth

New business growth was the slowest since September 2016, according to the AIB PMI, with companies reporting weaker domestic and international demand

Weaker demand from home and abroad led to a slowdown in growth in the Irish manufacturing sector in April, according to the latest AIB Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).

The PMI, a measure of activity in the sector, fell to 52.5 from 53.9 in March. Any figure above 50 means growth, but the April number was the weakest since October 2016.
