EU can unlock investor demand

The capital markets union was a big-ticket project that stalled in the wake of the Brexit result, but its time may now have come again

While Brexit remains undone and we all wait to see how the final drama plays out, spare a thought for what the EU might champion in the next five years. Nothing remains the same, and the EU desperately wants to move on with its own agenda after Britain’s departure. That agenda must centre on tackling sluggish growth rates and improving the efficient use of capital across the Union.
