Digital hasn’t killed the radio star

Radio continues to be a significant mainstream medium in Ireland, writes Colette Sexton

There was a 1 per cent year-on-year increase in the number of adults listening to an Irish radio station yesterday, up to 83 per cent, according to the latest Joint National Listenership research, released last week.

The demise of radio among young people is often exaggerated, according to Moran. Among 15–34 year-olds, 77 per cent tune into an Irish radio station daily.
