Documents obtained under FoI have shed new light on Ireland’s proposed credit register

Some lenders had expressed concerns about the “overall project timelines”, according to the confidential documents

A database of debts, as a resource for both lenders and borrowers alike, has long been mooted, and is slowly edging closer to becoming a reality.

Legislation providing for the establishment of a central credit register was enacted in 2013, paving the way for a database of all debts to be set up.
