Clawing out of the housing crisis will be agonisingly slow

The rental market has been in a hugely overheated state for some time, and there are several reasons for this

I don’t envy Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy. He has the misfortune to be in office during the worst housing and homelessness crisis in living memory. Remarkably, we have moved from having in the region of 400 ghost estates at the depths of the recession to now having a shortage of housing. The housing crisis is one which will take time and a finely tuned plan of action to resolve. Murphy has the plan, but in politics, time is always a very scarce resource.
