Church furnishing from Knock to Notre Dame

Gavin Duignan: his firm provided 18 timber candelabras for Notre Dame Cathedral, which survived the recent fire

The recent fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was a particular source of concern for Co Leitrim company ICS Church Furnishers.

The Carrick-on-Shannon company made 18 timber candelabra surrounds for the French cathedral five years ago.

“They have survived the fire,” said Gavin Duignan, managing director of ICS. “As a recent addition, their value is minor compared to some of the beautiful historical artefacts in the cathedral. They’re replaceable, but they survived.”
