Consumer groups have criticised the Central Bank

The Central Bank is preparing to amend its consumer protection code on the back of new EU mortgage rules.

Last month, the EU mortgage credit directive was transposed into Irish law.

The new rules, which deal with areas such as pre-contractual information, financial education, and information on charges, are designed to boost protection for borrowers.
