Society of the Irish Motor Industry welcomes shift from diesel surcharge to nitrogen oxide levy
The increase in carbon tax announced in the budget was branded a "cash grab” by a motoring group and “just one piece of the jigsaw” by environmentalists.
In a long-expected move, Paschal Donohoe raised the levy from €20 to €26 a tonne. The aim is to reach €80 a tonne by 2030.
