Forget streaming movies while sitting in your pyjamas on the couch - it appears that the cinema business is just the ticket these days.

Fans of the big screen are growing, and Cineworld is the proof in the popcorn. Its total group revenue was 15.8 per cent for the 19 weeks to May 12, with actual revenue growth even stronger at 21.3 per cent - given the depreciation of the pound.

However,British and Irish box office growth was 17.3 per cent, and this was boosted by pricing, new screens, and also the consolidation of the Empire acquisition, according to an analyst note from Barclays Investment Bank.
