Chartered Accountants Ireland is introducing modules on blockchain, crypto-currencies and robotics into its courses to qualify as an accountant, a world first for the profession.

In addition, supplementary courses for those with existing qualifications will be made available.

The decision was made by the body due to the high percentage of people with accountancy qualifications working outside traditional accounting practices, with 70 per cent working as in-house advisers at other businesses.
