Abbey sees 'steady pick-up' in Irish housing

Builder reports fall in profits, but hopes easier credit will support Irish recovery

Dublin-listed housebuilding company Abbey has reported a fall in pre-tax profits for the first half of its financial year.

Pre-tax profits for the six months to the end of October were just under €21.8m, compared with €29.7m a year earlier. This was mainly due to fewer sales in Britain.
