Sometimes a dream setting can inspire a whole career. When Robin Stevens was three years old, she moved with her family from California to England, where her father had been appointed the master of Pembroke College in Oxford University – a role that came with the perk of living in a house on the grounds of the hallowed university campus, close to where Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll was set.
