‘Gentleman’ Stanton becomes fifth Fine Gael TD to confirm exit from politics

Retiree number Five: David Stanton, the Cork East TD is the latest Fine Gael deputy to announce his intention to stand down at the next election.

Fine Gael Cork East TD and former junior justice minister David Stanton has confirmed that he will not run in the next general election.

Stanton is the fifth Fine Gael deputy to announce they will not seek re-election.

In a statement, Stanton said he informed his local colleagues last night at the Fine Gael Cork East AGM that he would stand down at the next election.
