One-off rural housing to continue under new guidelines

Push towards compact settlements will see dramatic increase in density requirements for residential housing in towns, cities and suburbs

One-off housing in the countryside will be allowed to continue under new rural housing guidelines due to be put out for public consultation by Darragh O’Brien shortly.

It comes as the Minister for Housing has published other guidelines around compact settlements that will see a dramatic increase in density requirements for developing residential housing in towns, cities and suburbs, and severe restrictions on parking availability in urban centres.
