Hospitality insolvencies nearly double as industry grapples with inflation

The sector has been badly hit by the cost of living crisis, with many struggling as they come off government supports

The number of insolvencies in the hospitality sector nearly doubled over the last year amid an environment of surging energy costs and high inflation.

Just over 500 corporate insolvencies have been recorded in Ireland in 2022 so far, according to new figures compiled by Deloitte, the professional services group. That was up from 401 during the same period last year, a 29 per cent increase.
