High prices, strong growth and a poor climate showing: ranking Ireland against other EU states

The headline finding, unsurprisingly, of new Central Statistics Office (CSO) data on Ireland’s economy and society was that our prices in 2021 were the highest in the EU – by some margin.

The CSO’s Measuring Ireland’s Progress report, published on Tuesday, found that in 2021, the price of goods and services in Ireland was 43.8 per cent higher than the average across the 27 EU member states.
