Gardaí move to acquire facial recognition-ready bodycams

Gardaí are moving to buy bodycams with facial recognition technology with the aim of rolling them out to serving members next year.

The issue caused a row in the coalition because the Green Party opposed the request from Helen McEntee, the Minister for Justice, to allow Gardaí to use facial recognition technology in the body cams.
