We need to build a new model for home ownership

The mortgage-lending limits are preventing those in lower wage brackets from owning their own homes and forcing them to pay ludicrous rents instead. It’s time for a rethink

The government last year acknowledged that the housing and homeless crisis was a national emergency. More recently, Google chief executive Sundar Pichai indicated a willingness on the part of his company to subsidise general housing in Dublin. It was something the tech multinational would think about over time.
