Watchdog ramps up probe of Swiftcare/ VHI deal

Commission tells insurer it needs to supply more information about the bid’s impact

The state’s competition watchdog has escalated its investigation into VHI’s purchase of its former joint venture partner in a number of Swiftcare clinics, Áras Sláinte.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has told the healthcare insurer that it needs to supply more information about the bid’s impact on the market by April 5. The first phase of the probe ended on February 15.
