Vulture funds courted over distressed mortgages

Government officials contacted representatives from several ‘vulture funds’ in a bid to find a solution to the mortgage arrears crisis, documents show.

Correspondence, revealed under Freedom of Information requests, shows meetings with representatives of Lone Star, Oaktree and Apollo (through their loan-handling entities) as well as with distressed debt buyer Kennedy Wilson.
