Vacant sites legislation to be limited to big cities

The government is to amend a planned levy on vacant sites to ease concerns that it could put builders out of business.

The measure was included in new planning legislation to stop developers sitting on sites and therefore boost the supply of housing.

But Finance Minister Michael Noonan announced that he would be carrying out a review of the vacant sites levy.
