US vulture launches new legal actions against Irish firms

Distressed asset operator Cabot has now brought more than 100 cases in Irish courts this year

Cabot, a ‘vulture’ fund that is part of the biggest distressed debt operators in America, has launched a series of fresh lawsuits against Irish business people in the High Court. It brings to over 100 the number of legal proceedings it has taken this year, and to 350 in total.

This latest batch of proceedings involves mainly small or medium-sized businesses in the west and south, and seeks summary judgments against them.
