Tourism growth slows in July as fewer UK visitors arrive

CSO figures show UK visitor numbers were down 6.2% in the seven months to end-July

Overseas travel figures released today show that the total number of trips to Ireland rose by 4.4 per cent to 2.97 million in the period and were up by 3.1 per cent in the seven months to the end of July when compared to the same period a year earlier. But Niall Gibbons, chief executive of Tourism Ireland, said the agency was "extremely conscious" of the decline of 1.1 per cent seen in the month of July alone.
