Total amount of disputed tax appeal assessments doubles to €4bn in late surge
Likely cause of increase is case taken by Perrigo against demand for €1.6bn billion tax payment
The amount of tax appeal assessments in dispute doubled to €4 billion in a late surge in cases last year.
According to figures provided by the Tax Appeals Commission, five major disputes were lodged in the the final week of December last year, mostly related to corporation tax assessment.
The cases increased the total amount in dispute from €2 billion in 2017 to €4 billion, even though the volume of cases received was roughly stable.
