Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s comments about the media to a select group of young ex-pats at a private lunch in New York caused quite a stir when they were reported back home this week.

Varadkar was reported to have expressed sympathy with US President Donald Trump’s views on the media, as well as criticising the media more generally and in particular political correspondents and their coverage of what goes on in Leinster House....
