Aviva Ireland profits rise in first half

Aviva Ireland has reported operating profits of €43m for the first half of this year, up 7 per cent compared with the same period last year.

The value of new life and pensions business jumped by more than 58 per cent to €14.6m. Operating profits in this sector were up 56 per cent to €14.2m, with particularly strong growth in annuities.
