Solid rise in retail sales in May

Hardware sales jump, but motor sales slip

Official figures show that the volume of retail sales rose steadily in May, indicating that a

recovery in consumer spending continued during the month.

The Central Statistics Office said the volume of retail sales increased by 0.7 per cent during May, giving an annual increase of 8.1 per cent.
