I walked past the Long Stone pub on Townsend Street in Dublin recently as the place was being gutted and a builder was prising a metal plaque depicting the “heroes of the Rising” off the wall of the now defunct hostelry.

However, all is not lost for the much loved bar, which shut before Christmas to make way for developer Marlet’s 11-storey build on the Apollo House site it occupied.
