Pope Francis has hit out at the “betrayal of trust” by clerical sex abusers as Taoiseach Leo Varadkar promised a new chapter in Church-state relations. The Pope promised that he would work to “remedy past mistakes” and adopt “stringent” measures to ensure that the scandals of the past were not repeated.
