Lane impresses MEPs at ECB hearing

Committee chair says some expressed reservations about Central Bank Governor's Spanish rival

Roberto Gualtieri, chair of the parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, said the majority of political groups found Lane’s performance “more convincing”, though both candidates made a good impression.

Gualtieri’s statement added that some groups of MEPs expressed reservations about the appointment of de Guindos. MEPs will not make the final choice, but they can hold up an appointment.
