Irish universities drop in world's top 200 research universities rankings

TCD and UCD slipped to 98th and 176th place respectively

The latest QS World University Rankings confirmed MIT Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the world’s best research university for a fifth consecutive year, followed by Stanford and Harvard universities. Cambridge was the top-ranking university outside the US, slipping to fourth place from third last year.

Seven of Ireland's eight universities dropped in the rankings with only NUI Galway rising to make it into the top 250, ranking 249th compared to 271st last year....
