Irish Rail boss: we need €100m more a year or we’ll go bust

The chief executive of Irish Rail believes the company needs a further €100 million a year if it is to avoid insolvency or major service decline.

In an interview with The Sunday Business Post last week, David Franks said an agreement needed to be reached on funding before the end of this year, as the prospect of bankruptcy was still live.
