Ireland’s top landlord predicts 20% rent ‘explosion’

The largest landlord in the state is predicting an explosion in rents before the end of 2016, with tenants facing hikes of up to 20 per cent in the next 18 months.

Canadian-backed property player Ires Reit arrived on the Irish property scene last year, spending €400 million to become the largest private landlord in the country.

The company said that chronic problems of undersupply were to blame for the skyrocketing rents in the capital.
