Ireland makes top ten in world competitiveness rankings

US edged out of top slot by Hong Kong and Switzerland

That's according to the IMD World Competitiveness Centre research group which has been published every year since 1989.

The 2016 edition ranks Hong Kong first, Switzerland second and the USA third.

Singapore, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway and Canada complete the top 10.
