Iarnród Éireann is in discussions about two major rail freight contracts which could reduce climate emissions.

The company’s shipping of goods on its railway is a very small part of its business, with only three main customers: Coca-Cola, Tara Mines and Coillte. But it is in discussions to secure two major contracts at a time when there is increased focus on the potential of rail to reduce the state’s carbon emissions....
