Halligan’s heart unit to cost €850k

The mobile cardiac care unit demanded by Independent Alliance junior minister John Halligan, in return for his continuing in government, will cost €850,000 to install and manage at University Hospital Waterford (UHW).

Halligan has secured a mobile catheterisation laboratory, or cath lab, for UHW which will require €50,000 of enabling works by the HSE and will cost an estimated €40,000 per week to manage for the five months it is in place. It is expected...
