A secret email obtained by The Sunday Business Post has raised questions about whether senior gardaí contacted the HSE counsellor at the centre of the false sex abuse claims against garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe.
The controversy is escalating this weekend, with influential cabinet minister Shane Ross understood to have lost confidence in his cabinet colleague Katherine Zappone for not briefing him at all about the existence of serious false allegations against McCabe.
