Defective pyrite infill material can cause subsidence and cracks in the walls of a building. Dublin City Council has to date spent around €9 million repairing damage from pyritic heave in social housing estates.

Irish Asphalt is currently the subject of a wind-up petition following a judgment order over the supply of defective construction infill containing excessive pyrite. James Elliott Construction Ltd (JECL) has applied for a liquidator to be appointed to the insolvent materials...
