Experts warn on fire traps and defects

An expert panel appointed by the government to look into building defects has strongly criticised the state’s powers to enforce upon builders safety regulations – including fire safety.
The expert panel on concrete blocks was established to look into defects in housing in Donegal and Mayo.
In its final report, delivered to the government this month, it takes issue with the Building Control Regulations introduced in 2014.
