Exchequer figures: Income tax and VAT fall below target

Corporate tax payments push overall returns ahead of target

Exchequer figures released today reveal health overspending last month, while income tax and VAT collections dropped below March targets.

However, another surge in corporate tax payments helped bring the overall return ahead of target.

The overall tax return in the first three months of the year was ahead of target – and ahead of the return in the same period in 2015.
