Editorial: We have reached a decisive moment for the NI protocol and for power sharing

As the British government and EU officials appear to move towards a deal on the Northern Ireland protocol, it is time for the DUP to show that it can put political differences aside and re-enter into power sharing

It appears that the long and laboured dispute over the Northern Ireland protocol could be on the cusp of being resolved.

As all sides tried to play down the immediate prospect of a deal over the weekend, the presence of Rishi Sunak, the British prime minister, in Belfast on Friday made it clear that talks had moved into their endgame.
