Editorial: New Dublin runway must get to full capacity as soon as possible

The second parallel or North Runway opened at Dublin Airport on August 24 last year, having cost €320 million.

Since then, as reported this week by the Business Post, the runway remains operational on a part-time basis only, between 9am and 6pm.

When the runway first opened, airport operator DAA conceded that an issue regarding departure flight paths was identified which resulted in some local communities being unexpectedly overflown, for which it sincerely apologised.
