Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport had to be evacuated shortly before 9 a.m. this morning following an alert.

The evacuation was caused by a smoke alarm, which triggered the emergency response.

"Someone had a cigarette in the toilets and that set off an alarm," a spokeswoman for Dublin Airport Authority said. "As normal procedure we had to evacuate the building to make sure there was nothing more sinister."
