Developers overturn fire safety rules 75 per cent of time

The number of successful appeals by developers over the last three years has led DFB to call for Irish fire safety regulations to be “beefed up”.

Hundreds of fire safety certificates are issued by DFB every year on new buildings and on major extensions. The fire safety officer can attach conditions related to sprinklers, fire alarms, air vents or other fire safety measures as they deem appropriate.
