Competition body deepens inquiry into MCD takeover by LN-Gaiety

The competition watchdog has deepened its investigation into the planned takeover of concert promoter MCD by LN-Gaiety, a joint venture company owned by MCD founder Denis Desmond, his wife Caroline Downey and Live Nation.

The CCPC is seeking further information on the nature of the deal, which was submitted for approval a month ago and would give Live Nation control of the Ireland, Britain and Europe gig and festival operator.
