Clerys: Foley could face six months in jail if she is convicted

Businesswoman Deirdre Foley could potentially face jail time if convicted of criminal charges relating to the handling of collective redundancies at Clerys department store.

She is being prosecuted on three counts of breaking employment protection laws and one more serious count related to the alleged impeding of a Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) inspector. If tried summarily, the maximum penalty on the latter charge is a fine, up to 6 months imprisonment or both.
