Claims bill at BoI Life was €105m in 2016

Figure included life cover payments of €67 million - down from €71 million in 2015

Bank of Ireland Life paid more than €105 million in claims last year, with the company paying out on 97 per cent of life cover and specified illness claims in 2016.

This figure included life cover payments of €67 million, down from €71 million in 2015. The average claim for life cover came in at €52,400, with 63 per cent of the individual life cover claims relating to men. The youngest claimant was 28 years old.
